Pit Run To Launch ‘Fit Club’

We are delighted to announce that we have been given the go-ahead by the office bearers of the Harrold Centre and the support of the Parish Council to get a regular Fit-Club going in the village.

From the spacious Harrold Centre to the many open spaces and the beautiful lake-centric country park, we are blessed with an array of facilities right on our door step that lend themselves perfectly to accommodating convenient and affordable group fitness & well-being sessions.

The plan is to have 2 or 3 professionally run sessions per week of varied exercises, catering for all ages & abilities and at affordables rates (between £3-£4/session). And by keeping it local it means you don’t have to possess a gym membership or make an environmentally objectionable 20 mile round trip just to find a class that suits you!

Initially, Fit-Club will be run on a trial basis in order to gauge if there is a genuine appetite for it and to determine whether or not it is financially feasible – So please do support it if you are keen to get fitter/healthier and spread the word to your friends and family.

Research shows that the UK is the most obese nation in Europe; with 7 out of 10 Brits ‘overweight’ and a staggering 1-in-4 Brits ‘obese’ – So, statistically, there are plenty of us in the village who need to shift a bit of timber/get fitter and there is no better way than a convenient group session which is proven to be a far more motivating and enjoyable environment to be in when exercising.

More details on classes and session times to follow in due course – Watch this space!

Pit-Run 29: Provisional Main Race Results

Apologies for the slight delay in getting the Provisional Main Race Results out - A combination of the Bank Holiday weekend coupled with the arduous process of reviewing photographic/video footage to cross-reference runners with finishing positions has meant that it has taken slightly longer than usual – We are still doing this cross-referencing but a hunger from people for the results has meant that we have released these provisional results for now.

First and foremost we must apologise to Jack Chapman who we initially hadn’t placed in the race but who, after review of photographic footage, finished an impressive 19th and won the Junior Category – The reason Jack wasn’t placed correctly was because his race number was not visible as he powered towards the finish line – Whether this was because it had flipped up or had come off during the race is not clear. Either way it serves to remind runners that numbers need to be pinned onto their fronts in a secure manner to ensure they are recorded correctly at the finish.

Irrespective of this, we will shortly have the definitive race results, but in the mean time please review the provisional results. Again we would like to extend our sincere thanks to you for your support whilst congratulating all those who competed. The race gets more competitive every year and next year looks set to continue in this vein with promises of a Sub-16 coming!

Pit-Run 29 Photos

Superb photos of the day were kindly taken by professional photographer and local Harrold resident, Laurie Moore – Laurie has a great skill in being able to really capture the spirit and atmosphere of an event and he has done so again for Pit Run 29!

If you live in Harrold, you may have seen the large panoramic photos in the Co-Op or on the Butchers’ window.

You can view the photos and purchase the photos from here – Again, all proceeds go to the local charities/organisations we support , so we would encourage you to fill your scrapbook up!
